Ground Rules

Let's have a quick review of how we will tackle your immunity to change and then establish some ground rules for this work. Grab your map as I review it column by column.

The columns are:

  1. Column one Improvement goal.
  2. Column two Doing/Not doing.
  3. Column three worry box/ Competing commitments
  4. Column four Big assumptions.

The basic rhythm of each column will go as follows:

  1. I’ll ask you a question.
  2. Give you time to think about it
  3. Write down your thoughts/answers to the question
  4. Invite you to check in with your reflection circle (only in column 1) (more on
  5. Confirm your section content choices
  6. Make sure it meets the section criteria.
  7. We’ll then move to the next section, I’ll start the process over and ask you another question.

Gradually you are going to see your map begin to take shape. We want you to feel free to fill in your map how you see fit. Only you and I will have access to this map. This map will not be shared. This process should allow for us to think and feel out loud without judgement or critique.

DO NOW: Reflection Circle

It can be helpful for you to identify 3 people that you can have talks with while surfacing your column one goal. These are people who know you well in the context of your work because they work with you, or it could be a loved one who knows how you operate in many contexts, including work. These are people who not only know you well, but are on your side. You must trust them. I’ll have specific instruction on what that conversation sounds like when we get to that section, but for now, think about and begin to make a list of who those folks are.
